MINERAL RIDGE - Prayers will be held on Thursday at 9:30 a.m. the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes, Austintown Chapel followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Church for Joseph S. Bartos, 91, who passed away April 18, 2019 at Vista at the Ridge.
Joseph was born Nov. 6, 1927, in Campbell, a son of the late Andrew and Anna (Duzi) Bartos.
Joseph served his country in the U.S. Army. He was a craneman for Youngstown Sheet and Tube. He volunteered his time working BINGO at St. Ann’s Church, enjoyed casino trips and was an avid Yankees and Steelers fan. As his grandchildren grew up, he spent his time supporting their interests and sporting events.
His wife, Mary Yanochko, whom he married May 8, 1948, passed away Jan. 15, 2012.
Joseph is survived by his two daughters, Betty Patrick and Debbie (Leon) Wielbruda both of Austintown; three grandchildren, Tammy (Tom) Jordan, Brianna and Joey Wielbruda; a great-grandson, Tommy Jordan; two sisters, Dorothy Hanlon of Hubbard and MaryAnn Jurcisin of Lowellville; and a brother, Andrew Bartos of Tennessee.
He was also preceded in death by a brother, John Bartos.
Family and friends may call on Wednesday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
