HOSCHTON, Ga. — Joseph Dailey passed away Wednesday, July 31, 2024, at the age of 89.
He was born Dec. 5, 1934, a son of James Dailey and Carmella Marquette Yaskulka.
Joseph attended Chaney High School before embarking on a distinguished career as a supervisor in truck repair at General Motors for over 30 years.
A proud United States Marine, Joseph dedicated his life to service both in his professional endeavors and to his country.
After retiring, Joseph settled in Estro, Florida, for a decade, where he cultivated his love for motorcycles and gardening. An active member of his community, he served as a board member for his homeowners’ association.
Joseph’s love for sports extended to his unwavering support for the Cleveland Browns, Cleveland Indians and The Ohio State Buckeyes.
In his leisure time, Joseph enjoyed canning his home-grown tomatoes and peppers, sharing the taste of his labor with loved ones. He delighted in making traditional pizzelles for holidays. Joseph’s generosity and sense of community were further exemplified by the summer block parties and barbecues he hosted.
Joseph is survived by his loving wife of 68 years and high school sweetheart, Judith Dailey of Hoschton, Georgia; daughters, Laura Dailey (Tom) Kelly of Dacula, Georgia, and Suzanne Dailey (Jeff) Shick of Poland; sons, Joseph (Julie) Dailey of Phoenix, Arizona and Daniel Dailey of Buford, Georgia; sister, Jean Chomor, of Sharon, Pa.; nine grandchildren and seven great- grandchildren; and his loving dog, Bella Dailey.
Funeral services to celebrate Joseph’s life will be 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 24, 2024, at Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes, Poland Chapel, 2726 Center Road, Poland, with calling hours to begin at 11 a.m., prior to the funeral service. The Ellsworth VFW will perform military honors.
