SALEM - A memorial service will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Home, Austintown Chapel, for Joseph Deley Jr., 75, who died Saturday evening at Salem Regional Hospital.
Joseph was born Oct. 5, 1940, in Youngstown, the son of Joseph and Margaret (Perod) Deley Sr.
He was a 1958 graduate of Chaney High School and received a Bachelor's Degree in Transportation from the University of Akron. Upon returning from serving his country in the U.S. Navy, Joseph worked for Sheet and Tube from 1962 until 1966, in the shipping office at the seamless tube mill. Joseph worked for General Motors as a transportation analyst from 1966 until his retirement in 1992.
He coached boys baseball for the College Park league and girls softball for the Austintown Girls Softball League for many years.
Joseph is survived by his wife, the former Shirley Anderson, whom he married July 23, 1983; two daughters, Sheryl and Ashley Deley, both of Austintown; three sons, Joseph (John Prochenets) Deley III of Austintown, Michael Deley of Canfield and Richard (Joleen) Deley of Austintown; sister Elizabeth Shetter of New Middletown; brother Thomas (June) Deley of Las Vegas; and four grandchildren, Miranda, Ethan, Ajay and Jessa.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother Cyril Deley.
Family and friends may call Friday, from 10 to 11 a.m. at the funeral home.
Joseph's family requested that material tributes take the form of donations to a charity of the donor's choice.
