AUSTINTOWN - Prayers will be held Monday at 11:30 a.m. at Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes, Austintown Chapel, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at noon at St. Joseph Church for Joseph G. Gugliotti Sr., 81, who passed away peacefully early Saturday morning at Hospice House.
Joseph was born Aug. 15, 1931, in Struthers, a son of late Guy and Sarah (Pagano) Gugliotti.
He was a graduate of the 1950 Class of Struthers High School and served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict. He was employed for 33 years at Youngstown Sheet and Tube/LTV Steel and retired in 1983.
He was an avid gardener and bocce player and dabbled in photography. He was also involved with his two sons in the Boy Scouts of America and was Scout Master of Troop 161 in Austintown and then served in several district committees over 23 years. He was also a member of the Disabled American Veterans Chapter 2.
Joseph leave his wife, the former Joan Marie Haschak, whom he married Aug. 24, 1957; his two sons, Joseph G. (Renee) Gugliotti Jr. of Boardman and Bob Gugliotti at home as the family caregiver; two grandchildren, Adrianna Gugliotti of Chicago and Marisa (fiance Ryan James) Gugliotti of Boardman; his sister, Carmel (Bob) D'Orazio of San Marcos, Calif.; his three brothers, Al Gugliotti of Poland, Jim (Betty) Gugliotti of Youngstown, and Guy (Mary Ellen) Gugliotti Jr. of Poland; sister-in-law JoAnn Gugliotti of Struthers; and several nieces and nephews.
Joseph was also preceded in death by his brother, John Gugliotti, and his sister-in-law, Sally Gugliotti.
Family and friends may call today from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Joseph's family would like to thank the staff at Hospice House, the Hope Center for Cancer Care, and St. Elizabeth Hospital for all their care and compassion during this time.
Burial will take place at St. John's Cemetery.
