Austintown....Services will be 10:00 Am Saturday at the Higgins - Reardon Funeral Home Austintown Chapel and at 10:30 AM at Immaculate Heart Of Mary Church, Austintown for Mr. Joseph R. Kachurek age 82, of Austintown who died suddenly Wednesday evening at his residence.
He was born January 12, 1925, in Youngstown a son of Joseph P. and Mary Novotny Kachurek.
Joseph was a 1943 graduate of Chaney High School, a W.W.II army and Korea veteran serving in the European Theatre of Operations during W.W.II.
He had worked for the Servi-Clean Industries as a garage Foreman retiring in 1990 and at Commercial Motor Freight for 25 years as a garage Foreman truck mechanic specializing a Diesel Mechanic.
Joseph was a member of the Church and its Senior Citizen and Men's Clubs, a member of the American Legion Lake Post 737, the International Association of Machinist, Local 1519 Auto mechanic Union, Branch 308 Jednota, the First Catholic Slovak Union and the Tuesday Seniors Bowling League at Wedgewood Bowling Lanes. He enjoyed Hunting, Fishing and camping but most of cherished spending time with his family.
Joseph leaves his wife Agnes T. Gromofsky whom he married May 30, 1953,: 3 daughters Sandra J. Kachurek and her husband Robert J. Liptak of Springfield, Ohio, Diane M. Szakacs of Warren and Joanne M. Kachurek of Canfield; 3 sons Robert J. Annamarie Kachurek of Lyndhurst, Ohio, Terence R. Jacqueline of Marengo, Ohio and Patrick W. Lynda of Beavercreek, Ohio; 4 sisters Agnes White of Austintown, Helen George Semeraro of Youngstown, Rita William Johnston of Youngstown and Mary Lou Mikula of Youngstown, a brother Raymond Patricia Kachurek of Austintown, 6 grandchildren Natalie, Laura, Catherine and John Kachurek, Alexandria Szakacs and AMN Nicholas Delio.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Michael Kachurek and a sister Martha McClain.
Friends may call today from 5:00-8:00 PM at the Funeral Home and from 9:00-10:00 AM Saturday at the Funeral Home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the church in memory of Joseph.
