Joseph Kuhns

March 6, 1926 — March 16, 2005

AUSTINTOWN ­ There will be services Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at
Higgins-Reardon Funeral Home, Austintown Chapel, and at 11 a.m. at the
Immaculate Heart of Mary Church for Joseph W. Kuhns, 79, who died peacefully
in his sleep Wednesday morning.
Mr. Kuhns was born March 6, 1926 in Canton, a son of Norman John and Wilda
Leslie Kuhns, moving to this area in 1962.
He was a purchasing agent at Republic Manufacturing Division for 30 years
and then moved to Tennessee and worked for the Republic Doors and Frame
Company for seven years, returning to this area in 1984. Mr. Kuhns was a
WWII Navy veteran and past vice president and recording secretary for the
Youngstown Purchasing Association. He was an avid golfer and bowler.
He leaves his wife, the former Isabel L. Jones, whom he married Nov. 19,
1947; two sons, Richard J. of Columbiana and David W. Janice E. of
Canfield; two sisters, Mary Ellen William George of Canton and Audrey
Pete Williams of Louisville; two brothers, the Rev. Howard Kuhns of
Phoenix and Richard of Gahanna; and three grandchildren, Carly, Jason and
Joe.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Charles and Raymond.
Friends may call from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Immaculate Heart of Mary Church
Building Fund in memory of Joseph.
Arrangements are being handled by the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Home,
Austintown Chapel.
