AUSTINTOWN - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Joseph Church, with Fr. Gregory Fedor officiating and prayers offered at 9:30 a.m. at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Home, Austintown Chapel for Joseph M. ?Maz? Mazerik, 77, who died Sunday afternoon at his residence surrounded by his loving family.
Joseph was born Feb. 15, 1933, to the late Joseph J. Mazerik and the former Helen E. Vavrinak.
He was a member of St. Joseph Church, and a former member of Lowellville Rod and Gun Club. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, bocci and loved to garden.
Joe retired in 1998 from General Motors Lordstown Assembly Plant with 33 years of service as a pipefitter.
Joe was a proud Marine veteran serving as a Seargent during the Korean War, earning a Korean Service Medal with Two Stars.
Besides his parents, Joe was preceded in death by his wife, the former Judith Ann Cannell, whom he married July 14, 1956, she died Nov. 3, 2005.
He is survived by two daughters, Pam William Walsh of Canfield and Judi Viets of Austintown; two sons, Joseph Michelle Mazerik of Austintown and Paul Tammy Mazerik of Warren; his grandchildren, Nikki David Willis, William, Jenna, Sadie, Abbey, Logan, Kayla, Andrea, and Andrew; great-granddaughters, Aubrie, his little angels Addison and Alexandrea; a sister, Joann Sipus of Boardman; two brothers, Bob Sylvia Mazerik of Johnstown, Pa. and Dick Carla Mazerik of Tennessee; a special nephew, Steven Sipus; his bestfriends, from General Motors; his K-9 companions, Maggie, Lady Bug and Buster; and his cat, Snickers.
He was loved by all who knew him.
Friends may call today from 6 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery.
