LAKE MILTON - A funeral service will be held Friday at 1 p.m. at Green Haven Memorial Gardens for Joseph A. Nichols, 77, who passed away at home after a battle with cancer.
Joe was born Aug. 26, 1935, in Spencer, W.Va., a son of the late Romeo and Grace Spencer Nichols.
After serving in the Army he moved to northeast Ohio Twinsburg, Northfield and Lake Milton, where he lived the rest of his life with his wife, Marianne.
He was a proud retiree from GM Lordstown plant in Ohio. He loved fishing, camping, gardening, helping friends and working in the garage.
Joe is survived by his wife, the former Marianne C. Zender, whom he married Feb. 23, 1957, and they would have celebrated their 56 wedding anniversary later this month; two children, a son, Allen "Buz" Nichols of Akron and a daughter, Ann Jeff DeWolf of Lake Milton; a grandchild, Jakob DeWolf of Ravenna; and two sisters, Betty McClung of Vienna, W.Va. and Mary Carol Carpenter of Parkersburg, Pa.
Joe was also preceded in death by his brothers, Ralph, Charles, and Robert Nichols; and a sister, Dorothy Perriue.
In lieu of flowers, material tributes may take the form of donations to Ohio Choice Hospice or the American Cancer Society.
