YOUNGSTOWN - Prayers will be held Thursday at 9:15 a.m. at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes, Boardman-Canfield Chapel followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Christine Church for Joseph R. Rigelsky, 86, who passed away Sunday evening at Hospice House.
Joseph was born March 9, 1925, in Youngstown, the son of Stephen and Katherine Gurchik Rigelsky.
Joseph served in the Army during World War II. He was awarded the American Theater Ribbon, Eame Theater Ribbon with two Bronze Stars, Good Conduct Medal and World War II Victory Medal. Joseph was head shipper for Republic Steel/LTV, retiring in 1986. He enjoyed the opera and spending time with his family and friends.
Joseph leaves his wife, the former Jeanette Yurko, whom he married, Sept. 7, 1959; his son, Joseph Robyn Rigelsky of Hollywood, Md.; his twin sisters, Katherine Curulla of Syracuse, N.Y. and Mary Zaremba of Geneseo, N.Y.; two brothers, Edward Eleanor Rigelsky and Raymond Rigelsky, both of Youngstown; two granddaughters, Rachel and Lauren Rigelsky; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Joseph was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Michael Rigelsky.
Family and friends may call Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
