Joseph Szymanski

GIRARD - Funeral services will be held Saturday at noon at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes, Austintown Chapel, for Joseph F. Szymanski, 77, who passed away April 29, 2018, at Autumn Hills Care Center.

Joseph was born Oct. 23, 1940, in Youngstown, a son of the late Joseph and Sophie (Bukoski) Szymanski.

Joseph graduated from Campbell Memorial High School and served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1960 to 1964. He worked for Youngstown Sheet and Tube as a second helper for 20 years. He then became employed with Schwebel's Bakery for 21 years. Joseph was a member of St. Joseph Church in Austintown, the Steelworkers Local 2163 and the Bakers Local 19.

Joseph leaves his wife, the former Carol J. Benincasa, whom he married Aug. 3, 1968; a sister-in-law, Phyllis (Joseph) Altobelli of Niles; and nieces and nephews, Shane Twyford, Michael Fonda, Cindy Ciminero, John Fonda, Nick Altobelli, and Joe Altobelli.

Joseph was also preceded in death by his daughter, Sharon Szymanski; a sister, Ann Marie Randall; and a brother, John Szymanski.

Family and friends may call on Saturday from 10 a.m. to noon at the funeral home.
