BOARDMAN - Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the Zion Lutheran Church for Joseph B. Turkle Jr., 46, who died early Sunday morning at the Cleveland Clinic.
Joseph was born March 3, 1969, in Alliance, the son of Joseph B. Turkle Sr. and Nancie (Duff) Bokesch.
He was a 1987 graduate of Austintown Fitch High School and worked as a self-employed paint contractor for Oscarduff Painting and Restoration for 20 years.
Joseph was very active with Donate Life. As a recipient himself, Joseph often spoke about the importance of organ donation.
He is survived by his parents, Randy and Nancie Bokesch of Canfield; two brothers, Jason (Joey) Turkle of Delaware, Ohio and Patrick Bokesch of Canfield; three uncles, Edgar Turkle of Philadelphia, Tyler Turkle of Tallahassie, Fla., and Ray (Kathy) Bokesch of Austintown; aunt Paula Bokesch of Boston; grandmother Marie Bokesch of Austintown; nieces and nephews, Madison Fagert, Kayla and Josh Turkle, and Chase, Morgan and Alana Walkup; and several cousins.
He was preceded in death by his father; and grandparents Edgar H. and Elizabeth Turkle, Marion and Lillian Duff and Michael H. Bokesch.
Family and friends may call Tuesday from 4 to 6 p.m. and Wednesday from 10 to 11 a.m. all at Zion Lutheran Church.
The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff at the Cleveland Clinic for their compassionate care shown to Joseph, and especially would like to thank Rick Spitznagle for his self-less and generous gift of life through kidney donation seven years ago.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that material tributes take the form of donations to Donate Life Ohio, donatelifeohio.org, 246 N. High St. Columbus, OH 43215.
