AUSTINTOWN - Prayers will begin Monday at 9:45 a.m. at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Home, Austintown Chapel followed by a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at St. Anthony Church for Josephine Cafaro Hryb, 88, formerly of Briar Hill, who died Thursday afternoon at St. Elizabeth Health Center.
Josephine was born May 25, 1921, in Youngstown, the daughter of Sam and Catherine Rimedio Cafaro.
A graduate of The Rayen School, she worked at Giordan's Candy Factory and later at Photogenic Machine. She was a lifelong member of St. Anthony Church where she was a member of the Altar and Rosary Society and the St. Theresa Club and had volunteered making pizza. She was a member of the ITAM and the Mahoning County Democratic Club.
She is survived by a sister, Lucy Cafaro of Austintown; three grandchildren, Jody Jamie Zenn, Paul Karen Bernard and Chris Lisa Bernard; and eight great-grandchildren, Alexa, Maria, Dante and Gianna Bernard and Zachary, Logan, Taylor and Noah Zenn.
Her husband, Michael Hryb, preceded her in death in 1974. Besides her husband she was preceded in death by a daughter, Catherine Bernard; a sister, Rose Ansevin; three brothers, John, Dominic and Rocky Cafaro; and a nephew, Joey Fercana.
Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. on Sunday at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Home, Austintown Chapel.
