YOUNGSTOWN - A funeral service will be held Monday at 1 p.m. at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes, Poland Chapel, for Josephine L. “Joy” Singer, 80, who passed away Friday afternoon at Hospice House.
Joy was born March 3, 1938, in Youngstown, a daughter of the late Frank and Nellie (McClintock) Gallaugher.
Joy graduated from East High School and spent most of her life in Boardman. She worked as a supervisor at Eye Care Associates for 25 years. She was president of the Ladies Auxiliary of the 8586 VFW Hall for many years. She also was an avid camper.
Joy is survived by her children, Aprilyn (Shorty) Singer Amendolea and Robert A. “Bobby” Singer; her only beloved grandson, Nathan Amendolea; many nieces and nephews; and a brother-in-law, Bob Rushwin, whom she adored.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by the love of her life, Robert H. Singer, who died on April 28, 1997; her four sisters, Wanda Fiucci, Betty Rosser, June Pennell, and Darlene Rushwin; and three brothers, Owen, Richard and Walter Gallaugher. She was also preceded in death by her beloved poodles, FiFi and Robear.
Family and friends may call today, Jan. 13, from 3 to 6 p.m. and Monday from noon to 1 p.m. at the funeral home.
