YOUNGSTOWN - Prayers will begin Saturday at 9:15 am at Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes, Boardman-Canfield Chapel, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am at St. Christine Church, for Judith "Judy" P. Ferlaino, 74, who was called to new life, Friday morning at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Boardman, surrounded by her family.
Judy was born Dec. 17, 1941 in Webster Springs, WV, the daughter of Earl G. Atkins and Gwendolyn (Damascus) Poe.
She was a graduate of East Liverpool High School and Francis Tuttle School of Nursing in Oklahoma City. Judy worked for Diamondhead Nursing Home until retiring to raise her family.
Judy was a member of St. Christine Church and in years past, was involved within the church and school. Her greatest joy was her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Judy is survived by her husband, John B. Ferlaino, whom she married Feb. 1, 1958; daughter Stephanie K. Ferlaino of Streetsboro; son Michael A.(Tangee) Ferlaino of Niles; son-in-law Ray Cooper of Alexandria, La; two sisters, Jean Shields of Barberton and Nancy (Ted) McKinney of Hermatage, TN; brother-in-law, Ward Wike of Norton, ten grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
Besides her parents, and her father, Edgar Allen Poe who raised her, Judy was preceded in death by two daughters, Cecilia Marie Ferlaino and Patricia D. Ferlaino (Chan) Cooper; sister Ruth Wike; and brother Robert Atkins.
Family and friends may call Friday from 2 to 7 pm at the funeral home.
Burial will take place at Riverview Cemetery in East Liverpool.
