POLAND - Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the Prince of Peace Evangelical Lutheran Church for Julia Meese Hallquist, 95, who passed away Friday evening at her son's home.
Julia was born Nov. 11, 1915, in Salisbury, Pa., the daughter of the late Clyde Dill and Bessie May Meese Wagner.
She attended grade school in Salisbury. Her family moved to Youngstown, where she graduated from South High School. Eventually her family moved to Poland. She worked for Doctor Walter Strand in Youngstown before becoming a homemaker.
Her husband, Oscar W. Hallquist, whom she married at St Paul's Reformed Church in Boardman on Nov. 22, 1945, passed away on Oct. 25, 1998.
Julia leaves her son, Carl C. Cindy Hallquist of Poland; a sister, Ellen Jim McMurray of Poland; a brother, Dennis Jean Wagner of El Paso, Texas; a brother-in-law, Danny Rayniak of Rogers, Ark.; two grandsons, Kevin C. Hallquist of Poland and Brian L. Jessica Hallquist of Struthers; her pride and joy great-granddaughter, Brooke Hallquist of Struthers; and numerous nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews.
Julia was preceded in death by her parents; husband; five sisters Edwina Coleman, Betty J. Davis, Mary Whetson, Aleda A. Summers and Nellie M. Rayniak; and seven brothers, Darrel M., Garret C., Cal F., Dick, Max, Clyde, and Bobby L. Wagner.
Family and friends may call Tuesday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes, Poland Chapel and Wednesday from 10 to 11 a.m. at the Prince of Peace Evangelical Lutheran Church.
