AUSTINTOWN-Services will be Saturday at 9:00 AM at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Home, Austintown Chapel, and at 9:30 AM at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church for June Althea Getch age 83 of S. DeHoff Dr. who entered heaven Wednesday afternoon at her home surrounded by her family after a five month illness. June was born April 25, 1921, in Punxsutawney, Pa., the daughter of Rolland and Signe Seaburg Ellinger. She had worked at the Ravenna Arsenal on the shell line during WW II, she then worked at the Mahoning County TB Sanitarium, and later worked as a licensed practical nurse at the Mahoning County Nursing Home for 22 years before retiring in 1984.
She was a graduate of the Choffin School of Nursing, was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, where she was a lector, greeter, Eucharistic minister, CCD instructor, and a member of its senior citizens. She enjoyed crocheting, needlework, knitting, and most especially her dog "Pepper".
Her husband Valerian B. Getch whom she married March of 1938, passed away September 18, 1983.
She is survived by a daughter Cynthia June Hansen of Delta, Colorado, five sons, Valerian, Jr. Lynne of Boca Raton, Fla., Thomas Trish of LaJolla, California, Richard Carol of Carmel, Indiana, Peter Dorothy of Boardman, and Kennith Getch of Austintown, three sisters, Shirley Martinko of Sadic, Ky., Delores McKenna of Canfield, and Jo Ann Martin Trebus of Austintown, and her grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Besides her husband, and parents she was preceded in death by her grandparents Thomas and Cynthia Ellinger who raised her and whom she cherished.
Friends may call from 5 PM to 8 PM Friday at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Home, Austintown Chapel.
The family requests that material tributes take the form of donations to the Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish Center building fund.
