Youngstown- Funeral Services will be 11am Thursday at Redeemer Lutheran Church with Rev. Karl Rein Officiating for Katherine Turney, age 86, of Niles formerly of Austintown, who died Sunday afternoon at Northside Hospital.
Katherine was born March 7, 1921 in Youngstown to the late Michael and Katherine Raiger Klein, Sr.
During WWII Katherine worked for Isaly's Dairy, in 1945 she left the dairy to raise her family. She was a graduate of Austintown Fitch High School.
She was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church, the Youngstown Saxon Club, and AARP, her favorite past time was playing Bingo with her friends.
Besides her parents, she is preceded in death by her Husband William E. Turney, Sr. whom she married June 30, 1943; he died July 17, 1981; brothers, Michael, John, George, Martin, and August Klein, and one sister Helen Klein.
Katherine leaves two daughters, Nancy Edward Holmes of Ft. Myers, Fla., Sue Patrick Connor of Warren; two sons, William E. Turney of Youngstown, and Thomas E. Janice Turney of Youngstown; seven Grandchildren and eight great grandchildren; a sister, Min Haner of Youngstown; and a brother, Robert A. Klein of Youngstown.
Friends may call Wednesday from 2-4 and 6-8pm at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Home, Austintown Chapel. Friends may also call one hour prior to the service at Reedemer Lutheran Church 10-11am 2305 S. Canfield-Niles Rd.
Entombment Greenhaven Cemetery.
