AUSTINTOWN - Funeral services will be held Saturday at 8 p.m. at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes, Austintown Chapel for Kathleen A. Kolenich, 59, who passed away Feb. 29, 2012, at Hospice House after a courageous battle with cancer, with her loving husband and son by her side.
Kathleen was born May 1, 1952, in Niles, a daughter of John and Catherine Nastasi.
She grew up in Niles and graduated from Niles McKinley High School in 1971. She was an Avon Lady for over 30 years and as a result, made many, many friends who will remember her as a friend with a wonderful smile who you could always talk too.
As a homemaker, Kathleen enjoyed cooking and her homemade soups and kolachi were without equal. She loved animals and will be missed by her dogs, Riley, Wesley and Toby.
Kathleen married Robert M. Kolenich on June 9, 1973, and together they raised their son, Michael R. Kolenich in Austintown.
In addition to being survived by her husband and son, Kathleen leaves her mother, Catherine Nastasi of Niles; three sisters, Cynthia Ted Gustovich of Mineral Ridge, Patricia Nastasi of Niles, and Deborah Ric Pezzenti of Youngstown; four brothers John Penny Nastasi of Farmdale, Frank Alonora Nastasi of Niles, Eugene Nastasi of Howland and Patrick Susan Nastasi of Salem; and dozens and dozens of nieces and nephews will remember her always.
She was preceded in death by her father, John Nastasi.
Because of her compassion for children and animals, Kathleen's family requests any contributions to be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital or Angels for Animals.
Gratitude is given to Hospice House for their kindness in helping Kathleen during her final day.
Family and friends may call Saturday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
