CANFIELD - Friends and family are invited to gather on Monday, Dec. 10, 2018, to celebrate the life of Kathleen V. McCarthy, who has left this earth to be with her parents, sister, brother and others she loved.

Kathleen passed away at her Canfield, home on Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2018.

Born Feb. 12, 1933, in Youngstown, the daughter of James Daniel and Helen Loretta O’Neill McCarthy, Kathleen was known affectionately to many who loved her as “Aunt Kathy”.

A 1952 graduate of Ursuline High School, Kathleen embarked on a long professional career beginning with Truscon Steel, and including Naegele Outdoor Advertising, Park Vista Retirement Community, Briarfield Manor, The Inn at Christine Valley, retiring in 2017.

Kathleen is remembered for her loving devotion to her family, pride in her Irish heritage and her dedication to the Catholic faith, having been a longtime member of St. Edward Church and St. Christine Church in Youngstown.

Known for her big smile and big heart, Kathy treated everyone, even strangers, as a friend. Her loyalty to those who knew her dated back to her time in grade school where she made friendships that lasted even until today.

In addition to her parents, Kathleen was preceded in death by a sister, Mary and her husband, James P. Mahony; a brother, James “Danny”, and his wife Audrey McCarthy; and a brother-in-law, Dr. Ralph G. Crum.

She is survived by a sister, Helen T. Crum of Canfield; as well as many nieces, nephews; great-nieces and great-nephews; and great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews.

Friends may call on Monday, morning from 9 to 10:30 a.m. at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Home, Boardman-Canfield Chapel, 3701 Starr’s Centre Drive, Canfield, OH 44406.

Prayers will begin at 10:30 a.m. Monday, at the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 11 a.m. at St. Christine Church, 3165 South Schenley Ave., Youngstown, OH 44511.
