BOARDMAN - Prayers will begin Friday at 11:30 a.m. at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes, Boardman-Canfield Chapel, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at noon at St. Charles Church, for Kathryn "Cass" Valicenti, 88, who died Tuesday morning at Assumption Village, surrounded by her family.
Cass was born March 4, 1926, in Youngstown, to Andrew and Elizabeth (McQuaide) Jardien.
She was a 1943 graduate of The Rayen School and attended Youngstown College. Cass owned Boardman Frame House Gallery for 20 years, until her retirement.
Cass was a former member of St. Teresa Carmelite Monastery and a member of St. Charles Church. She was a member of Camp Fire Council, Private Industry Council, Ridgewood Garden Club, and was a founding member of Fonderlac Country Club and the Boardman Swim Club.
Her husband, Frank A. Valicenti, whom she married July 24, 1948, died April 1, 1999.
Cass is survived by her three daughters, Dr. Beth Valicenti of Pittsburgh, Janet (Paul) Williams of Boardman, and Laura (David) Hartman of Pittsburgh; a brother, John Jardien of Poland; and four grandchildren, Drew Williams, Sara Householder, Allison Hartman and Kelly Hartman.
She was also preceded in death by a brother, Andrew Jardien and two sisters, Jean Creighton and Patricia Jardien.
Family and friends may call Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
The family would like to thank Armeda Maravola and the staff at Assumption Village for the care and compassion given to Cass.
