BERLIN CENTER - A funeral service will be held at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes, Poland Chapel, where the family will receive friends from 4 p.m. until the service at 6 p.m. on Thursday, June 28, 2018, for Kathy J. Biroschak, 66, who passed away Saturday morning at her home with her family by her side. The final six months of her life were spent fighting a brave battle against stage four lung and bone cancer.
Kathy was born July 1, 1951, in Springfield, Ill., a daughter of the late Robert H. and Patricia (Baldoni) Schleyhahn.
Kathy graduated from Glenwood High School in Chatum, Ill. She was recently an in-home caregiver for Home Instead Senior Care. Prior to that, she worked in the accounting department for the Jewish Federation.
She loved animals, especially horses and was an advocate for animal welfare. She became interested in the miniature industry. Using her creative talents, she attended shows and taught classes throughout the United States. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, and was an avid painter and reader. She had a vast collection of books, often sharing with family and friends. Throughout her life, Kathy had a wide and varied range of interests and activities that kept her very busy.
Kathy leaves to cherish her memory her husband of 45 years, Joseph E. Biroschak Jr., recently celebrating their 45th anniversary; three children, Robert Harmony of Columbus, Vanessa (Brian) Barber of Vienna, and Jennifer (John Violi) Biroschak of Austintown; stepson, Brett (Jennifer) Sullivan of Boise, Idaho; 14 grandchildren; a sister, Patricia (Billy) Sommers; and a brother, Robert Schleyhahn both of Springfield, Ill. She was also expecting her first great-grandchild later this year. Spending time with her children and grandchildren were her passion. Kathy will truly and sadly be missed by all who loved and knew her.
Kathy was also preceded in death by her son, Richard Harmony; an infant son, Joshua Biroschak; and a sister, Sharon Nudo.
In lieu of flowers, material tributes may take the form of donations to MVI Hospice, 4891 Belmont Ave, Youngstown, OH 44505
