STRUTHERS — Kevin Michael Shannon, 31, passed away Monday, July 8, 2024, at The Cleveland Clinic, surrounded by his family and friends.
Kevin was born March 26, 1993, in Youngstown, to Timothy Shannon (Youngstown) and Kristine MacGillivray Shannon (Bellefontaine).
Kevin was a 2012 graduate of Cardinal Mooney High School.
Kevin loved all things to do with movies. He enjoyed being a part of local movie-making and creating short videos of his own. He loved collaborating with a local comic artist, Chris Yambar, annually.
Kevin was a local Youngstown artist who dabbled in drawing, painting and sculpting. Known for his sense of humor (often inappropriate), he loved to make people laugh.
He was recently employed at Compass Family and Community Services in Youngstown, where he helped patients who struggled with mental illness. Kevin took great pride in his work. He had the kindest heart and adored helping others.
Kevin was preceded in death by a brother, Timothy Jacob. He is survived by his parents, Tim and Kristine; brothers, Christopher (Bella) of Cortland, Declan of Bellefontaine; and sisters, Lily of Youngstown and Debora of North Las Vegas, Nevada. He was beloved as “Funcle Kevin” by his two nieces, Lylah Jade and Eliana Mae. He is also survived by his grandmother, Marjorie MacGillivray of Bellefontaine. He has many aunts, uncles and cousins who will miss him greatly.
A celebration of life will be 7 p.m. Saturday, July 13, 2024, at Lynn Park in Youngstown.
A benefit will be held for Kevin at 8 p.m. Friday, July 19, 2024, at Cedars-West End (706 Steel St. Youngstown, OH 44509). There will be local bands that evening playing that Kevin loved.
Arrangements are by Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes, Austintown Chapel.
