AUSTINTOWN — Private family services will be held at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes, Austintown Chapel, for Kim Marie Toohey, 59, of Austintown, who died Wednesday morning, Oct. 7, 2020, at her home, after a lengthy illness.
Kim was born Nov. 25, 1960, in Youngstown, the daughter of Slavko “Steve” and Mildred “Mitzi” Blazevich Jurich.
She was a 1978 graduate of Campbell Memorial High School and earned her Bachelor of Science degree in chemistry and biology and later her MBA from Youngstown State University.
Kim worked for the Youngstown Developmental Center for over 32 years, starting as an aide and promoted to superintendent, retiring in 2017.
She had been a member of Holy Trinity Serbian Orthodox Church. She loved to shop, enjoyed traveling and loved her basset hounds, her cat and her swimming pool.
She is survived by her husband, William D. Toohey, whom she married Nov. 9, 1997; a sister, Robin (Pat) McMichael of Greensburg, Pa.; brother-in-law, John (Cindy) Toohey; a nephew, Ryan; and nieces, Annie, Madison, Lexi, Cailan and Kiera.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
The family has requested that material tributes take the form of donations to Angels for Animals, 4750 W. South Range Road, Canfield, OH 44406.
