BOARDMAN - Funeral services will be held Thursday at 7 p.m. at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes, Poland Chapel for Kurt Walters, 49, who died Friday at home.
Kurt was born Jan. 12, 1965, in Youngstown, to Sandra (Fink) Moran.
He was a 1983 graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School and attended Youngstown State University, where he majored in Art. Kurt worked for many years as a roofer.
He enjoyed fishing, hunting, cooking, and mostly the time he spent with his son, Kurt Jr. Kurt was the biggest fan and support system at all his niece and nephew's sporting events.
Kurt is survived by his wife, Marie Loftus, whom he married Oct. 14, 1989; his mother, Sandra (Richard) Moran of Boardman; his son, Kurt Jr. of Boardman; brothers Keith (Deborah) Walters of New Middletown, Craig (Som) Walters of Minnesota, Micki Moran of Chicago, Kevin (Stephanie) Moran of Cleveland and Jamie (Sharon) of Youngstown; sisters Kelly (Dave) Wolford of Canfield, Meg Handel of Boardman and Maureen Brice of Boardman; his niece and nephew, Erin and Brandon Walters; his dog, Sammy; and cat Gabby.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Rick Moran.
Family and friends may call Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
The family has requested that material tributes take the form of donations to Animal Charity, 4140 Market St., Youngstown, OH 44512.
