AUSTINTOWN - Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Home, Austintown Chapel for Lawrence D. Cowen, 83, who passed away Sunday at St. Elizabeth Health Center.
Lawrence was born July 24, 1926 in Rosemont, the son of Lawrence and Onita Crum Cowen.
Lawrence was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in World War II. Lawrence was a tester leader in the Metallurgical Department at Jones & Laughlin. He was also employed at the Youngstown Sheet & Tube.
Lawrence was an avid golfer and was a member of the North Jackson Keenagers. He also enjoyed going to the horse tracks.
His wife, the former Olga Shyjka, whom he married in 1947, passed away May 5, 1999.
Lawrence leaves his daughter Nancy Thomas Dalton of Lake Milton; a grandchild; and three great-grandchildren.
Besides his parents and his wife, Lawrence was preceded in death by a daughter, Norma Davis; and a sister, Marion Terry.
The family will be receiving friends Wednesday from 1 to 2 p.m. at the funeral home.
