CANFIELD - Funeral services will be held Wednesday at noon at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes, Austintown Chapel for Lawrence I. Van Dyke Sr., 74, who went home to be with the Lord at 3:10 a.m. Friday morning at Northside Medical Center.
Lawrence was born Sept. 21, 1938, in Youngstown, a son of the late George and Anne Parker Van Dyke.
Lawrence was a janitor for Canthar Polyair and was also a cutter for Moyer's. He was a member of the Galilee Apostolic Church. He enjoyed being a greeter and helping serve meals with his wife. He had an interest in model airplanes and loved football, going on walks, and biking in Mill Creek Park with his wife.
Lawrence leaves his wife, the former Gladys McBride, whom he married Nov. 3, 2012; his daughter, Natalie Chris Bradley of New Springfield; his two sons, Lawrence Karen Van Dyke of Brunswick and Michael Van Dyke of Wilton Manor, Fla.; four stepchildren, Chris Maureen Yambar, Tim and Sharon Yambar and Katie Davis; four sisters, Dee Mastro, Ruth Balthes, Eleanore Martin, and Flo Takach; his brother, Bill Van Dyke; his three grandchildren, Jordan Bradley and Noah and Haley Van Dyke; four step-grandchildren; and two step-great-grandchildren.
Lawrence was also preceded in death by his first wife of 47 years, Mary Lou Van Dyke; his grandson, Jason West; three sisters; and three brothers.
Family and friends may call Wednesday from 10 a.m. to noon at the funeral home.
