POLAND - Prayers will begin Saturday morning at 9:15 a.m. at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes, Poland Chapel, followed by A Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 10 a.m. at St. Angela Merici Parrish, Sacred Heart Church for Lawrence W. Kennedy Jr., 79, who died Monday morning at Beeghly Oaks.
Larry was born Jan. 21, 1935, in Youngstown, the son of Lawrence W. and Elizabeth Jane (Nicklin) Kennedy.
He was a 1953 graduate of Ursuline High School and later served in the U.S. Air Force flying over 1000 missions in the Far East as an Airborne Radar Operator. He then worked at the Strouss-Hirshberg Co. as a warehouseman/ truck driver for 26 years before retiring in 1986.
He was a member of the church and the ARCO Club, was an avid reader, especially loved History, and was well known as a really witty guy. He could coin a phrase like no other.
He is survived by his wife, the former Mary Louise Koliser; a son, Theodore (Ted) Kennedy of Poland; a sister, Peg Yanek of Poland; and three brothers, Bob (Bobbie) Kennedy of Poland, John (Bernadette) Kennedy and Fulton (Colleen) Kennedy, all of the Harrisburg, Pa. area.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, James Kennedy.
Friends may call Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Higgins-Reardon, Funeral Homes, Poland Chapel.
