POLAND - A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday at 10 a.m. at the Holy Family Church for Lawrence N. Olesen, 91, who passed away Monday morning at Hospice House.
Lawrence was born Sept. 21, 1921, in Cleveland, a son of the late Ole and Ella Bosch Olesen.
Lawrence graduated from Boardman High School. He attended Grove City College and American Television Labratories in Chicago.
He served as technical sargeant in the Marine Corps during World War II. He retired after over 40 years of service as chief engineer for WFMJ Radio and Television.
Lawrence was a charter member of the Holy Family Church. He enjoyed hiking, biking, golfing and traveling.
Lawrence leaves his wife of 65 years, the former Gerry Yavorick, whom he married Feb. 15, 1947; his daughter, Gerry Pletenik of Poland; two sons, Neil Patti Olesen of Edmond, Okla. and Bryan Shauna Olesen of Youngstown; and two grandchildren, Matthew and Kimberly Olesen.
Lawrence was also preceded in death by his sister, Jane Harris; and two brothers, Bob and Jim Olesen.
Material tributes may take the form of donations to Hospice House, 9803 Sharrot Road, Poland, OH 44514.
Burial will take place at Poland Riverside Cemetery.
