AUSTINTOWN - Services will be Wednesday at 10:30 AM at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Home, Austintown Chapel, and at 11:00 AM at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church for Lawrence "Larry" Spassil age 81 of Austintown, who passed Friday evening after losing his battle with cancer.
Larry was born December 12, 1923, in Youngstown, the son of Michael and Mary Korhan Spassil.
A graduate of Chaney High School, he had served in the Navy during W.W. II. He had worked at U.S. Steel and later as a rural mail carrier in North Jackson for 36 years before retiring in 1980.
He was a charter member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, its senior citizens, bowling league, and had for many years had volunteered with his wife to work the church festival.
He is survived by his wife Donna Jean Connelly whom May 7, 1949, a daughter Patty and her husband Don Opsitnik of Poland, a son Raymond L. Spassil of Cumberland, Maryland, two sisters, Ann Gagye of Poland, and Virginia Milo of Diamond, a brother, Raymond Spassil of North Jackson, four grandchildren, Kimberly, and Michelle Zidian, Nicholas Spassil, and Shane McDade.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 Tuesday at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Home, Austintown Chapel.
The family has requested that material tributes take the form of donations to Immaculate Heart of Mary Church or Hospice of the Valley.
