Lena Lewis

YOUNGSTOWN - Prayers will begin Monday at 10:15 a.m. at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes, Boardman-Canfield Chapel, followed by a funeral service at the Nativity of Christ Russian Orthodox Church for Lena Lewis, 96, who died Thursday evening at Omni West Assisted Living Facility.
Lena was born July 11, 1917, in Youngstown, to Samuel Liffko and Tillie (Artus) Byck.
She worked for Strauss Department Store as a receiving clerk for 15 years until retiring.
Lena was a lifelong member of the Nativity of Christ Orthodox Church and a member of their Sisterhood.
Her husband, Richard Lewis, whom she married Oct. 31, 1936, died Oct. 8, 1972.
Lena is survived by her son, Richard (Margaret "Peggy") Lewis of Canfield; two grandchildren, Thomas (Joleen) Lewis of Canfield and Susan Lewis of Chesepeake, Va.; and four great-grandchildren, Abigail Cochrane, Sydney Lewis, Thomas J. "T.J." Lewis and Alexandra Lewis.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; stepfather, John Byck; son, Thomas S. Lewis; two brothers, William Liffko and John Byck; and two sisters, Nellie Riccitelli and Olga Marco.
Family and friends may call Sunday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home, where a panikhida prayer service will take place at 7 p.m.
Burial will take place at Belmont Park Cemetery.
