NORTH JACKSON - Prayers will be held Thursday at 9:15 a.m. at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes, North Jackson Chapel followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of the Lake St. James Church, for Leroy "Roy" C. Wood, 72, who passed away Sunday morning at Hospice House.
Roy was born June 13, 1939, in Youngstown, a son of the late Ralph and Evelyn Stein Wood.
Roy served in the Navy and worked in the maintance department at GM Lordstown for over 30 years.
He was a member of St. James Church, where he was a member of their Men's Club and was an usher for their 4:30 p.m. Mass on Saturdays. He was an Eagle Scout and a lifetime member of the Boy Scouts of America .
He built and loved Street Rods and was a "Jack of all trades." His greatest love was for his family.
Roy leaves his wife, the former Rachel DeMarco, whom he married Nov. 19, 1960; three daughters, Doreen Bill Ludwig of McDonald, Mary Scott Riffee of Mineral Ridge and Evelyn Lenny Brady of Lake Milton; two sons, Michael Holly Wood of Delaware and Greg Lisa Wood of Austintown; three sisters, Jackie Al Ritchie of Howland, Roberta George Krlich of Hubbard and Dixie Robert Learn of Austintown; a brother, Raymond Fran Wood of Jacksonville, Fla.; 12 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Roy was also preceded in death by a sister, Frieda Learn.
Family and friends may call Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, material tributes may take the form of donations to Hospice House.
