AUSTINTOWN — Leslie J. La Rue, 65, passed away at her residence Saturday, Dec.12, 2020.
She was born Feb. 4, 1955, a daughter of Robert and Stella Wojtowicz Trewella.
She was a lifelong resident of Austintown and Boardman. Leslie attended Austintown Fitch High School.
In her professional career, Leslie worked for various local police departments, including Boardman, where she retired as a dispatcher, and as both a police officer and dispatcher at other departments, including Austintown and Beaver Townships. She was very dedicated to protecting and serving the people in her community. When her mother became ill, she retired to become her primary caregiver.
Leslie enjoyed arts and crafts, flower arranging, gardening and reading detective novels. She loved dogs, especially her beloved Teddy. She enjoyed cooking and sharing food with family and friends. Christmas was her favorite holiday and her home decorations reflected her love of the season.
Leslie was preceded in death by her parents; her grandparents; and various aunts and uncles.
She is survived by her brother, Robert Trewella (Susan); her nieces and nephews, Brendan (Joshua), Molly, Ashling and Brigid; and great-nephews and -nieces, Noah, Larissa, Curtis, Emma, Mickey, Ian, Brooklyn and Carlie.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, there are no public calling hours. There will be a Meal of Memories, in her honor, at a later date.
The Higgins-Reardon Funeral Home handled the arrangements.
