YOUNGSTOWN - There will be a memorial service Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. at the Greenhaven Cemetery for Lloyd R. Martin, 89, who died Thursday afternoon at ValleyCare Northside Medical Center.
Lloyd was born Oct. 14, 1926, in Youngstown, the son of Albert E. and Marie M. (Sweeney) Martin.
He worked as a test engineer at Youngstown Sheet and Tube for 34 years until retiring in 1980.
Lloyd was also a veteran of the U.S. Army and served his country in the South Pacific. He was a member of the VFW No. 419 and served as secretary for the Kuzman Golf League for 24 years.
Lloyd is survived by his wife, the former Audrey Black, whom he married Jan. 1, 1948; a daughter, Joyce M. Martin of Austintown; three sons, Robert L. (Barbara) Martin of Murfreesboro, Tenn., Richard L. (Mary) Martin of Austintown and John E. (Nancy) Martin of Youngstown; four grandchildren, Bryon (Elizabeth) Martin, Lisa (John) Dietrick, John E. Martin Jr. and Richard L. (Sammie) Martin; and four great-grandchildren, Emma Jean Wayne, Bryce Martin, Carly Martin, and Preslee Lynn Martin.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Jean Roche, and brother Robert Martin.
Professional arrangements are being handled by the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes, Austintown Chapel.
