Lloyd Overly

CANFIELD - Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 11:00 AM at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Home Boardman-Canfield Chapel, for Mr. Lloyd "Wes" Overly, 79, who passed away on Monday evening at Briarfield Manor, Austintown.
Wes was born March 29, 1934, in Williamsfield, Ohio, a son of Lloyd and Ella Ukkonen Overly and moved to Youngstown when he was a child.
Wes was a South High graduate and worked for Ohio Edison as a troubleshooter for over 40 years. He was a member of the Utility Workers Union of America AFL-CIO, President and Secretary of the Local Union 118, he served as the Executive Director of the Ohio Edison Joint Council and also served two terms as Vice President of Region 3 Retirees.
Wes coached the Fighting Little Redman, was a member of the Wilson Booster Club, Sultans Social Club, and the Youngstown State Penguin Club.
He leaves his wife the former Joyce H. Thomas whom he married August 27, 1956; 2 daughters Laura Ogles of Fredericksburg , VA and Lisa Overly of Maui, HI; 3 sons Douglas of Pawleys Island, SC., Brad (Mindy) of St.Simons Island, GA and Jeffrey (Patty) Overly of Boardman; a sister Marilyn (Robert) O'Leary of Canfield, a brother Wayne Overly of Andover; 9 grandchildren Christine Groves, Amanda(RJ) Weinberg ,Lauren Groves, Hannah, Zachary,Maxwell, Morgan Elizabeth, Austin and Brooke Overly and 1 great granddaughter Charlotte Weinberg.
Wes was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Marguerite Brown.
The family would like to thank Becky and the staff of Briarfield Manor for their loving care they gave to Wes.
Friends may call Wednesday from 4:00 to 8:00 PM. at the funeral home and on Thursday one hour prior to the service.
