Lois Ann Sullivan, 84
YOUNGSTOWN A service of celebration will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the
Zion Lutheran Church, 3300 Canfield Road., for Lois Ann Bieder Sullivan, 84,
who died early Thursday morning at Beeghly Oaks.
Lois was born Feb. 22, 1924 in Youngstown, the daughter of Ann Evans and Knowlton T. Bieder.
She was a 1942 graduate of Chaney High School. During WWII, she was a supervisor at the Ohio Bell Telephone Company and was a member of the Ohio
Bell Chorus. After raising her family, she worked as a secretary at various churches. She retired in 2000 from the Youngstown School System, where she had been a secretary at Choffin Technical and Career Center for 12 years.
She had been a Charter member of Christ Church Presbyterian where she had served as an elder for six years and also had been the editor of a bimonthly newsletter for the 52 churches of the Eastminster Presbytery for 10 years and served on the News and Media Committee. She loved music and at one time taught piano in her home.
She became a member of Zion Lutheran Church where she had been a secretary for 12 years. She is a member of St. George's Lodge, The Saxon Club, the AARP, Catholic War Vets Post 3, the Itam Club, the Eagles 213 and the SERO.
She loved life and enjoyed having many friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack, whom she married in 1946.
Jack had been the scoutmaster of the former troop 6 and was the recipient of the Silver Beaver Award and the Order of the Arrow; her parents; and a favorite aunt, Alice Miller, with whom she shared many vacations.
She is survived by three sons, Timothy Susan Sullivan of Arlington Heights, Ill., John Paul Victoria Sullivan, and Brian Michelle Sullivan, both of Youngstown; a sister, Donna Jean Richard Anderson of Sebring, Fla; 11 grandchildren, Jennifer and Heather Sullivan of Arlington Heights, Ill., Melissa, Kristin Michael Cossack, Daniel, Michael, Rachael Paul McDougal of Austintown, Justin, Jenna, Christopher, and Dawn Sullivan, of Youngstown; five great-grandchildren, Daniel, Connor, Leah Marie, Jordan, and Zackary Sullivan of Youngstown; and many cousins.
Friends may call Tuesday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Home, Boardman-Canfield Chapel, and Wednesday one hour prior to services 1 to 2 p.m. at the church.
Lois requested that material contributions be made to Zion Lutheran Church.
