Lorena "Renee" Smith

Lorena “Renee” Smith, 84, passed away on Thursday, Sept. 5, 2024, in the loving presence of her daughters at Hospice of the Valley.

Born and raised in Englewood, New Jersey, she was the daughter of the late Clifford and Jennie Polvinen Archibald.

She graduated from Dwight Morrow High School class of 1957.Two years after graduation, she married her husband, Oscar J “Jene” Smith, who was serving in the U.S. Coast Guard. Together, they had three children: Daniel, Laura and Shari.

She worked for Bell Atlantic for a number of years, before starting her own transportation company.An avid sports fan, Renee’s passion for life was as vibrant as the flowers she nurtured in her garden.

She is survived by her loving husband, Oscar J “Jene” Smith; her three children; seven grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

She loved her dogs and made a great place for them in her heart and home down through the years.

Private services will be held in her honor.

In lieu of flowers , the family kindly requests that memorial donations be made in Lorena’s name to Animal Charity Humane Society, 8469 Southern Blvd., Building 3, Youngstown, OH 44514.Professional arrangements are being handled by Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes, Poland Chapel.
