YOUNGSTOWN - Prayers will begin Saturday at 11:15 a.m. at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes, Austintown Chapel, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Patrick Church in Youngstown, for Loretta "Dolly" E. Bailey, 87, who died Tuesday evening at Hospice House, surrounded by her family.
Loretta was born July 26, 1927, in Coatesville, Pa., the daughter of Michael and Frances Poremski Zvodak.
She was a 1945 graduate of South High School and worked for a few years at Ohio Bell Telephone, until retiring to raise her family.
Loretta was a member of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Church and attended St. Patrick school as a child. She was an avid tennis player and a sports enthusiast, who loved watching the Cleveland Indians. Loretta was very involved in the Millcreek Junior Baseball League with her family. Her greatest joy was watching her grandsons play baseball for Canfield and later through their college baseball careers.
Loretta's husband, William I. Bailey, whom she married Sept. 30, 1950, died March 4, 1990.
She is survived by her daughter, Michelle (Bob) Hoelzel of Canfield; two sons, William (Deborah) Bailey of Woodland, Wash., and Randall Bailey of Anacortes, Wash.; and two grandsons, Michael and Joey Hoelzel.
Loretta was also preceded in death by her parents; her son, Timothy Bailey; two sisters, Florence Rosovitz and Mary Thullen; and a brother, Ed Bugar.
Family and friends may call Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. and Saturday from 10:30 to 11:15 a.m. at the funeral home.
The family would like to especially thank the staff at the Paisley House for showing compassion and treating Loretta like family for the past two years. The family would also like to thank Hospice House for the excellent care given to Loretta.
