POLAND - Louis G. Cerimele, 68, affectionately known as "Sweet Lou," passed away on April 4, 2024.
He was born on September 18, 1955, to Eugene and Nancy (Asta) Cerimele.
Louis was a proud 1973 graduate of Austintown Fitch High School and also attended Youngstown State University. He worked as a laborer and welder for General Motors for 35 years before retiring in the Fab plant with local 1714.
Outside of his professional life, Louis had a passion for umpiring and refereeing and spent 35 years offiatating. His interest and love for athletics was passed down to both his children and grandchildren. However, his greatest joy came from spending time with his family and friends, particularly his grandchildren whom he adored. In his spare time, Lou enjoyed listening to music, sitting on the back deck with his family, eating, laughing and playing cards.
Lou was bigger than life and his smile could light up any room. He will be remembered for the way he could make anyone laugh and his own infectious laugh will never be forgotten.
His favorite pastime was watching his beloved Michigan Wolverines. "GO BLUE!"
Louis is survived by his loving wife, the former Jeannine Medicus, whom he married on September 9, 2000; his children, Matthew Cerimele of Charlotte, NC; Julie (Curtis) Stevens of Raleigh, NC; Timothy Cerimele of Alameda, CA; and step-son Daniel Cashon of Youngstown. Additionally, he is survived by his siblings, Marianne (Guy) Cerimele of New Albany, Dan (Tracy) Cerimele of Marysville and Rose Cornelius Bukovina (John Bukovina) of Mineral Ridge; six grandchildren: Luca, Dominic, Nico, Alec, Calina, and Connor; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
A visitation to honor Louis's memory will be held on April 9th from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM and on April 10th from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Higgins-Reardon Funeral Home, Poland Chapel, 2726 Center Rd. Poland, OH. The funeral service will follow on April 10th at 11:00 AM at the same location.
