POLAND There will be services Monday at 10:30 a.m. at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Home, Poland Chapel and at 11 a.m. at the Holy Family Church for
Louise Joann Petraglia, 89.
She was born Nov. 7, 1916 in Pittsburgh, the daughter of Carmine and Giovanna Butrico Mastandrea.
Louise graduated in January of 1933 from South Hills High School in Pittsburgh.
Her husband, Angelo F. Petraglia, whom she married Dec. 6, 1934, passed away
Dec. 25, 1997.
Louise and her husband, Angelo, owned and operated the Balcony Grill in
downtown Pittsburgh and the Commodore Restaurant in the North Hills.
Louise also worked for the Joseph Horne Co. as a Godiva candy sales
representative in their downtown Pittsburgh store.
Louise was a loving and dedicated wife, mother and grandmother. She devoted
her life to her children and was involved as a den mother in Boy Scouts,
several PTAs, a voluntary classroom reader and room mother.
In addition, Louise was president of the Mount Washington Women¹s Club, and
a member of Geneva Association for Restaurant and Hotel Employees, Holy
Family Senior Citizen¹s Club of Poland, and St. Bede¹s Senior Citizens in
Williamsburg, Va.
After raising her family in Pittsburgh, Louise moved to Williamsburg to be
near her grandchildren. In 1987, Louise moved to Poland to be near her
great-grandchildren.
Louise is survived by her children, Carmella Bill Smallhoover, Vincent A.
Petraglia and Carmine A. Petraglia; grandchildren, Kristen Don Dailey,
Evelyn Tim Stanton, Media Mark Lloyd, Denise Carter, Victoria Mike
McGill, James Petraglia and Samuel Petraglia; her great-grandchildren,
Robert and Billy Stanton and Isabella McGill; and many nieces and nephews,
all of whom believe she was the best ³Toll House Cookie Maker in the World.²
Besides her husband and parents, Louise was preceded in death by
granddaughters, Erica Smallhoover and Kimberly Petraglia; brothers, Angelo
Mastandrea, Carmine Mastandrea and Nicholas Mastandrea; and sisters,
Antoinette Petrone, Rose Petraglia Carmella Bastolla and Lucia Mastandrea.
Friends may call today from 4 to 9 p.m. and Monday from 9 to 10:30 a.m.
at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Home, Poland Chapel.
