YOUNGSTOWN — Lourdes “Lu Lu” P. B. Saldana, 78, died peacefully at home, Friday, Aug. 16, 2024, surrounded by her family.
Lu Lu was born June 15, 1946, in Manila, Philippines, the daughter of the late William and Gloria Bautista Ponce.
She worked as a tax preparer for many years until coming to the United States in 2001. Lu Lu moved to the Youngstown area years later and worked for Walmart.
She was a member of the Filipino-American Organization of Northeast Ohio. In her spare time, Lu Lu enjoyed bowling. Above all else, she loved being with her family most.
Lu Lu is survived by her son, Carlo Angelo Deleon of Youngstown; and sisters, Charito Tomeldan of the Philippines, Marissa Macaraig of New Jersey and Christina Ponce Balisi of the Philippines.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Idel Saldana; and siblings, Reynaldo Ponce Balisi, Ellen Ponce Balisi, William Ponce Balisi Jr. and Josefina Cordova.
Visitation for friends and family will be 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 23, 2024, at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes, Austintown Chapel. A funeral service will be held at noon Saturday, Aug. 24, 2024, at the funeral home.
