Austintown . . .Funeral services will be 10:00 AM at St. Patrick Catholic Church for Mrs. Luraine Barger age 69 , of who died Monday evening at her home after a courageous battle with cancer.
Luraine was born August 6, 1935, in Port Henry, New York a daughter of Frederick and Catherine Navin Sweatt and moved to this area in 1970 from Minnesota.
She was a very active member of St. Patrick's Church, as well as volunteering all of her free time to nurmerous area organizations including the Ladies of Charity, the Gleaners Food Bank and the Diocese of Youngstown.
Luraine was a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother and a good friend to many. She is married to Samuel Floyd Barger whom she married June 25, 1960, 3 daughters Shelly John Jeffries of Granville, Ohio, Sue Victor Kuchmaner of Canfield and Ellen Barger of Laguna Niguel, California; a son Matthew Sunny Barger of Naples, Florida, 2 sisters Joan Riani of Plattsburgh, New York and Claire George Jenkins of Lebanon, CT; 8 grandchildren Lindsey and Merrin Jeffries, Victor, Zachary, Makenzie and Jacob Kuchmaner and Gabriel Barger.
She was preceded in death by her brother Frederick Sweatt and a grandson Samuel Barger.
Friends may call Wednesday from 4:00-7:00 PM at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Home, Austintown Chapel.
