Magdalen Bokesch

AUSTINTOWN ? Prayers will be held Tuesday at 10 a.m. at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Home, Austintown Chapel followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Church for Magdalen A. ?Peg? Bokesch, 94, who passed away Friday evening at Humility House.

Peg was born Jan. 19, 1916, in Canton, the daughter of Earl and Dorothy Motter Stock.

Peg graduated June 6, 1934, from McKinley High School in Canton. She was a charter member of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, and was a member of their Altar and Rosary Society, Senior Citizens, Garden Club, and the Women?s Bowling League. She was also a member of Saxon Ladies Branch 22 in Austintown, AARP Chapter 4339, American Legion Auxiliary Post 301, and was a former president of Reserve Officers Association Ladies. Peg loved playing cards, especially bridge.

Her husband, Arnold W. Bokesch, whom she married March 18, 1942 at St. Joseph Church in Canton, passed away Sept. 20, 1973.

Peg leaves her two daughters, Darlene S. Aiello and Teresa A. McMahon, both of Austintown; three sons, William M. Elaine Bokesch of San Diego, Daniel J. Dena Bokesch of Austintown and James E. Deborah Bokesch of Austintown; two sisters, Cecilia Bamberger of Canton and Susan T. Henry of Massillon; 12 grandchildren, Patricia Pete Shughrov of San Diego, Jennifer Bokesch of San Diego, Allison Bokesch of San Diego, Michelle Fred Adams of Youngstown, Shannon Blackburn of Austintown, Laura Wimer of Howland, Cara Alvin Carroll of Austintown, Daniel Leandra Bokesch of Columbus, Thomas Jamie McMahon of Reno, Nev., Micheal McMahon of San Diego, Adam Bokesch of Nashville, Tenn. and James Bokesch of Austintown; and six great-grandchildren, Elijah and Travis Blackburn, William Layton, Sawyer and Juliana Carroll and Rylee Bokesch.

Peg was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two sisters, Mary A. Purcell and Anne Rita Stock; and four brothers, Carl V., Earl J., Gerard A. and James A. Stock.

Family and friends may call Monday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

The family wishes to thank the staff of Humility House for the loving care they provided for Magdalen ?Peg? Bokesch for the past 81/2 years and Hospice of the Valley for the work of God they perform every day.

Material tributes may take the form of donations to the Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, 4490 Norquest Blvd., Austintown, OH 44515 or to the Humility House, 755 Ohltown Road, Austintown, OH 44515.

Burial will take place at Calvary Cemetery.
