AUSTINTOWN ? A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Joseph Church in Austintown, and prayers offered at 9:30 a.m. at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Home, Austintown Chapel for Margaret T. Brown, 81, of Assumption Village, formerly of Dunbar Street in Austintown, who died Saturday afternoon at Assumption Village.
Margaret was born Feb. 8, 1929, in Youngstown, to the late John I. and Margaret V. O?Connell Thornton.
She was a member of St. Joseph Church and a 1947 graduate of Ursuline High School.
Margaret retired from the J.C. Penney Co. after many years of service as the Manager of the Men?s Department at the Mahoning Plaza.
Besides her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband Edward M. Brown, who she married July 23, 1949, and who died Dec. 8, 2006; and a son, Michael E. Brown. Margaret is also preceded in death by her nine brothers, John, Edward, Raymond, Francis, Joseph, Clarence, James, Paul and William Thornton.
Margaret is survived by her daughter, Kathleen Brown Carroll and her husband, Ronald W. Carroll of Austintown.
Family and friends may call Tuesday from 4 to 7 PM at the funeral home.
Margaret?s family would like to thank the nurses and staff at Assumption Village for the love and care they gave Margaret.
Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery.
