YOUNGSTOWN - Margaret “Peg” Campbell, 87, passed away peacefully at 3 a.m. on Sunday, March 31, 2019, at Omni Manor Nursing Home where she lived the past few years.
Born Nov. 21, 1931, in Youngstown to Arthur and Mary (Kopek) Humphries.
She was raised on the Sharon Line, and attended Thornhill Avenue School and North High School.
Peg was known for the beautiful cookies she baked for holidays, weddings, baptisms, and anniversaries. The Vindicator featured her in an article for baking in 1997. She was a fantastic cook and enjoyed reading and genealogy. She worked for American Paper Products for 10 years as a machine operator retiring in 1970, and was a former member of the St. George Croatian Club.
Peg is survived by her brother, Arthur (Paula); two sons, Kenneth (Debbie) Campbell of Youngstown and (Roy) Michael (Martha) Campbell of North Jackson; a daughter, Deborah LaPointe of Harker Heights, Texas; three grandsons, (James) Egan Skinner, Kory Campbell Sr., and Kyle Campbell Sr.; five great-grandsons; and one great-granddaughter.
Her husband, Edward, whom she married Jan. 1, 1960, preceded her in death in October of 2004. Also preceding her in death were her parents; her sister, Rita Raver; brothers Joseph, Walter, David, Jack, Martin (her twin) and Francis; two half brothers, Arthur “Sonny” and Charles; and two half sisters, Caroline and Annabelle.
Friends and family may gather for calling hours from 4 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, April 4, at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes, Austintown Chapel. A funeral service will be held on Friday, April 5, at 10 a.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Joe Congemi officiating.
