POLAND - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday at 9 a.m. at St. Charles Church for Margaret J. Gambrel, 88, who died Friday morning at Assumption Village.
Margaret was born Nov. 14, 1923, in Youngstown, the daughter of Terigio and Maria Nicole Latessa Santangelo.
She was a 1941 graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School and had worked at Dollar Bank before her marriage. She was a member of St. Charles Church, the Heather Hills Garden Club, an avid bridge player, bowler and golfer.
Her husband, Anthony A. Gambrel, whom she married Sept. 16, 1950, died Oct. 6, 1985.
Margaret is remembered as a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.
She is survived by a daughter, Nancy Ron Voitus of Columbiana; two sons, Patrick Sharmae Gambrel of Suffield, Conn. and Mark Gambrel of Poland; three grandchildren, Marie Nicole Voitus, Ashley Lauren Gambrel and Allison Taylor Gambrel; a niece, Dolores Good; and numerous other nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by six sisters, Susan Cerimele, Mary Cerimele, Concetta Lariccia, Edith, Helen and Rose Santangelo; and a brother, Henry Santangelo.
Friends may call today from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Home, Poland Chapel and Monday morning from 8:30 to the time of services at 9 a.m. at St. Charles Church.
The family has requested that material tributes take the form of donations to the American Arthritis Foundation in Margaret's memory.
