BOARDMAN - Margaret "Peg" Maharick passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 3, 2015, surrounded by her loving family and friends.
She was born on Feb. 14, 1929, in Youngstown, a daughter of Katherine (Patton) and Gerald Stephenson.
Peg attended The Rayen School and went on to explore a career in the cosmetic industry. Known for her glamour and beauty, Peg was employed by Strouss Hershberg's Department Store to represent Charles Of The Ritz. She was also employed by the May Co., Cleveland. Peg hosted and modeled for many special events at The James Modarelli Jewelers and the Peg Kish Dress Shop. Peg also devoted 20 years as a sales manager for Olan Mills Photography Studio, where she was honored numerous times as an outstanding sales representative.
She married Matt Maharick on March 12, 1977, and they enjoyed 34 years together, until his passing on Nov. 7, 2011.
Peg had a passion for the culinary arts. She was an extraordinary cook, baker and avid cookbook collector. She delighted the palates of many adoring family members and friends during weekly Sunday dinners, around her lively, festive table.
Her zest for life was vivacious and contagious. Peg brought an abundant measure of laughter to those around her through her unique and uncanny style of humor. Her greatest times were shared with her family and friends.
Peg's memory will be forever cherished by her children, Joan Arnott (Atty. Jack Lorenzetti, companion), Shelley (Atty. Michael) Hudak, and Patrick (Linda) Maharick; daughter-in-law Connie Restivo; grandchildren Atty. Heather (Rich) Hamilton, Noelle (Dr. Tim) Domer, Katie (Dr. Tae) Jung, Taylor Hudak, Vincent, Leigh and Lauren Restivo, and Maggie and Abbie Maharick; great-grandchildren Timmy and Carson Domer, and Julianna and Michael Jung; sister-in-law Jean Stephenson; brother-in-law Max Mohorick; and also, many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Matt Maharick; daughter Kristen Lynn Restivo; son Vincent D. Restivo; brother Edward Stephenson; and sister-in-laws, Mary Bortmas and Grace Mohorick.
The family extends abundant gratitude to Linda (Denny) Cowger for her consummate friendship and support.
The family would also like to extend deep gratitude to Dr. Steven Swain and Dr. Lee Snelson and staff for their compassionate care.
Friends may call Thursday, May 7, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes, Canfield Chapel.
A memorial service will take place on Friday, May 8, at 11 a.m. at the funeral home, with the Rev. Al Yanno officiating.
