AUSTINTOWN - Prayers will be held Tuesday at 9:15 a.m. at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes, Austintown Chapel, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Columba Cathedral, for Margaret McMahon, 90, who passed away Friday morning at Assumption Village.
Margaret was born June 20, 1921, in Youngstown, a daughter of the late George and Daisy Godward O'Neil.
Margaret was a 1939 graduate of East High School and a clerk for eight years at the Erie Railroad. She was a member of St. Columba Cathedral and was very active in card clubs.
Her greatest love was spending time with her family.
Her husband, Thomas Patrick McMahon, whom she married Feb. 12, 1949, passed away Nov. 26, 2004.
Margaret leaves three daughters, Kathleen Steve Platz of Poland, Peggy McMahon of Austintown and Ann John Ostrowski of Austintown; four sons, Thomas P. McMahon of Youngstown, Bill Sue McMahon of Austintown, Dennis McMahon of Austintown, and Michael McMahon of Boardman; a sister, Rita Bill Yankle of Youngstown; 11 grandchildren, Tom Jamie McMahon, Bill Alaina McMahon, Mike McMahon, Tim Michelle McMahon, Mike and Joe McMahon, Stephen, Stacey and Mike Platz, and Eric and Julie Ostrowski; and two great-grandchildren, Timmy McMahon Jr. and Nolan McMahon.
Margaret was also preceded in death by a sister, Irene Clarke; and three brothers, George, Tom, and Ed O'Neil.
Family and friends may call on Monday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Material tributes may take the form of donations to Hospice of the Valley or St. Columba Cathedral.
