AUSTINTOWN - A prayer service will be held Friday at 9:30 a.m. at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Home Austintown Chapel followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 10 a.m. at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church for Mrs. Margaret "Marge" O'Masta who died Monday afternoon at Hospice House.
She was born May 8, 1921, in Youngstown, a daughter of John and Mary Belko Gromofsky.
Margaret was a 1939 graduate of Woodrow Wilson and was a World War II veteran, in which she served as a physiotherapist with the U.S. Army Medical Corp.
She was a homemaker, a charter member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, its Senior Citizens group, its Altar and Rosary Society and the Austintown AARP Chapter 4339. She had a special devotion to the rosary, having led a neighborhood group that prayed the rosary weekly for nearly 50 years.
Margaret was married to Frank G. O'Masta on Dec. 30, 1943. He preceded her in death on March 29, 2003.
She leaves three sons, Thomas O'Masta (Shirley) of Rochester, Mich., Frank O'Masta (Susan) of Ashburn, Va. and John O'Masta (Lisa) of Columbus; eight grandchildren; and one sister, Dorothy Blasko of Struthers.
Margaret was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two daughters, Jeanne and Mary O'Masta; one son, James O'Masta; one brother, William Gromofsky; and four sisters, Louise Foreman, Catherine Brumert, Anne Matus and Agnes Kacurek.
Memorial contributions may be made to Immaculate Heart of Mary Church or Hospice of the Valley.
Friends may call Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
