POLAND - A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at noon on Wednesday at the Holy Family Church for Margaret "Peggy" Thomas, 87, who died early Sunday morning at the Hospice House.
Margaret was born June 9, 1925, the daughter of Andrew and Suzanne Puskar Chorey.
Peggy graduated from Scienceville High School and later worked at Strauss Department Store in the hosiery department until she began raising her family. She was a charter member of the Holy Family Church.
She will be remembered as the ultimate care giver as she cared for her father and her in-laws in her home for over 20 years. In addition, she will be remembered as a gracious hostess, who had great parties and held strong to her Slovak traditions during Christmas and Easter family gatherings. Peggy was an avid gardener and was active in local garden clubs, notably the Poland Garden Club. She and her husband were members of the Kirkmere dance club, Peggy loved to dance entertain and travel on cruises with friends.
She is survived by her husband, John R. Thomas, whom she married Sept. 29, 1945; three daughters, Debbie Greg Murdock of Boardman, Diane Russ Miklos of Canfield and Barbara Richard Suhar of Cedarburg, Wis.; 10 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Anne Simchak and Marty Lippa; and a brother, Andrew Chorey.
Friends may call from 11 to 11:45 a.m. Wednesday morning at the Holy Family Church.
The family has requested that material tributes take the form of donations to Hospice of the Valley in Peggy's memory.
