MARIA ELENA ANZEVINO
AUSTINTOWN - Prayers will begin Thursday at 9:30 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 10 a.m. at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Church for Maria Elena Anzevino, 71, who died Sunday at ValleyCare Northside Medical Center.
Maria was born Aug. 6, 1941, in Youngstown, the daughter of Michael D. and Della M. Giovanni Anzevino.
She was a graduate of Youngstown East High School and had worked as a mixologist and later worked at the General Motors Lordstown Plant for over 12 years before retiring.
Maria was an avid sports fan, especially for the Browns, Austintown Fitch and Ursuline. Maria also loved animals, especially her dog, Pumpkin, and always enjoyed being around family and friends. Maria also made many close friends from Sr. Pat's parent support group at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Home.
She is survived by her lifelong friend who was like a daughter to her, Brenda Balog; two sisters, Lillyan DiNunzio of Boardman and Donna Jean Hofus of Girard; a brother, Michael D. Anzevino of Austintown; several nieces and nephews; great and great-great-nieces and nephews; and her caregiver and good friend, Angelina "Cookie" DeJesus of Austintown.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a nephew, Tony Anzevino; and her daughter, Adele Anzevino, who was the love of Maria's life and they are now together again.
Friends may call Wednesday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes, Austintown Chapel.
